Description
Clark, Randy, 2025 acrylic on canvas, #1736, signed R. Clark in lower right, good condition, canvas size: 24 x 18 inches.Clark, born in Lindsborg, KS, combines realism and the abstract. Through monotypes & mixed media, he creates "dream images", where the interpretation evokes an emotion in the eye of the beholder. He uses acrylic paints, water & watercolor pencils on acrylic or watercolor paper and homemade colored and black cold press paper. For the monotypes, Clark works the paint on glass, adds water in various ways, sometimes manipulates the paint with a palette knife or brush; then applies paper to the glass, presses with his hands or a soft brayer & pulls off in the desired direction. As the work dries, he decides to leave it as is or to add to it using watercolor pencils for the new mixed media work. Each painting is one-of-a-kind, but the remaining paint on the glass always leads to another & the colors blend into something new as more water, more paint are added and manipulated.Being raised in the small art community of Lindsborg, KS, he has felt its creative influence through the years. Clark’s life-long teaching/coaching career & the love of outdoors led him to various locations; now in retirement he uses imagery etched in his memory for some of his work. The arts have inspired him to be more aware of nature’s shapes, colors, textures, lightness, darkness, softness & hardness that surround him.
