Eresch, Josie (1894-1967) collection of 6 woodcut prints in a pamphlet: Trees of Carmel, signed inside pamphlet cover and each print is pencil signed Josie Eresch in lower right good condition, pamphlet size: 8.5 x 6.5 inches. All woodcuts are titled and pencil signed: A Carmel Memory, 5 x 4; Monteray Cypress, 4 x. 5; The Cliff Dwellers, 4 x 5; The Dragon Tree, 5 x 4; Storm Sentinels, 4 x 5; The Harp of the Winds, 5 x 4 inches. Ed. 463 of 500 book: Elegant Amusement, signed on last page, good condition, corners of cover show signs of wear, book size: 8 x 6 x .25 inches. Eresch was born in Beloit, Kansas April 13, 1894 and died in Beloit, Aug. 7, 1967, Josie Eresch was a painter, woodblock printer, etcher, lithographer, landscape painter and banker. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1911 and attended St. May of the Woods College School of Art in 1914. She was a student of Birger Sandzen at Bethany College, Lindsborg; of A E Cross, Federal Schools, NY; and she also attended the New York School of Fine Arts.In Paris in 1925, she was a pupil of Caroline Armington; she also studied in Tokyo and Peking.From 1928 to 1933, she lived in Beloit in 1928-33. A member of the Kansas Author’s Club, she was the author of Elegant Amusements.
