Havens, James D (1900-1960) Cinnamon Fern and Veery, 1948 color wood cut, edition 200, pencil signed in lower right, good condition, image size: 8.5 x 6.5 inches. Prairie Print Maker gift print 18. James D. Havens was born in Rochester, New York. Following his high school graduation, he attended the University of Rochester and the Rochester Institute of Technology. He also studied with a variety of renowned painters and fellow Prairie Print Maker Grant Reynard. Additionally, Havens spent eight summers along the coast of Maine studying with marine painter Charles Woodbury. Haven’s eventually found his own artistic voice creating color woodblock prints depicting detailed scenes of nature. Many were inspired from the countryside around his home in Fairport, New York.
