Dale TerBush (b.1948) "Just Closer the Dream" oil on canvas, signed in lower left, good condition, canvas size: 12 x 16 inches. Dale TerBush paints with the goal of celebrating life by "transforming a beautiful image into something that is purely spiritual and poetic." He wants his art to speak for itself; elegant and mysterious, exciting and bold— scenes of "mesmerizing magic". TerBush was born in Elmhurst a suburb of Chicago. Soon thereafter his family moved to Southern California’s San Fernando Valley. As a young child he began painting but getting to the point of painting exclusively proved challenging, but a learning process. Initially trying to find "a real job, " he was fortunate to find a career in design with a large chain of restaurants that kept him centered in a facet of the art world. Painting a mural on a focal wall of a restaurant, he gained notice and praise by the restaurant’s president. Soon TerBush became head of the interior design department for the company and then worked his way to the position of Vice President. Success in the business world was achieved with TerBush designing over 300 establishments. However, he found that life in the corporate world was lacking the outlet for his desire to paint full time. So being and adventurer, he headed first for Santa Fe, New Mexico in the early 1990’s and then to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1994. Later he settled in downtown San Diego, California in a home overlooking the water. His painting method is to capture a landscape that comes from within his own imagination and then to let it flow from his own sense of spirit and self; in other words, to be a poet with paint and to evoke the emotional response as in romantic prose. Many of his landscapes recall work of the early Hudson River School of painters who, like Terbush, employed Luminism to romanticize and glorify nature in his panoramic vistas ranging from pastoral scenes to dramatic mountains views. Collectors of TerBush paintings range from Celestine Prophecy author James Redfield, Developer Donald Trump, Country Western singer Reba McIntire, Actor-Singer Terrence Howard, Actress Eva Longoria and International Heads of State.
