This original watercolor landscape by artist Paul Dunkak measures 10.5" x 14.5" and is dated 1963. It is in good condition and is signed in the lower left corner. Paul Dunkak was born in Omaha, Nebraska. His interest in drawing and painting began in childhood and continues to be the major force in his career. Dunkak’s formal education includes a B.F.A. degree from the University of Kansas, a year of study at the Swedish State School for Applied Arts and Crafts in Stockholm, Sweden, study at the Corcoran Gallery School of Art in Washington, D.C. and a M.A. degree in Painting and Drawing from the University of Missouri at Columbia.Paul Dunkak taught for five years at Bethany College in the late 1960s and continues to teach in the Kansas City area. He has taught both full-time and part-time at Johnson County Community College and the Kansas City Art Institute.Oils and watercolors by Dunkak have been exhibited in one-man shows and juried competitions throughout the Mid-West. His work has received numerous purchase awards and prizes. The focus of much of Dunkak’s painting centers on landscape themes. These may range from naturalistic compositions which record the more readily observable qualities of nature, to more conceptually anchored studies that draw in an intuitive understanding of the essences of color and form in interpreting the landscape image. Paul Dunkak maintains a studio at his home in Overland Park, Kansas.
