Watercolor by Richard Dutton titled "Iowa Pony MIne" dated 1971, measures 15" x 22.5", is signed in the lower left and in good condition.
Richard Dutton is a life long artist and educator. Dutton taught art at Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa, Iowa for over thirty years and served as Chair of the Performing and Visual Arts. Richard retired from college teaching in 1999. Since that time, he and his wife Karen have traveled extensively throughout the US and overseas. Richard adn Karen moved to the Hallsville near Columbia, Missouri area thirteen years ago.
Richard continues to paint primarily in watercolor but also working sometimes in oil and acrylic. He believes that an art work must transcend the subject matter and take on a visual entity of its own. The range of expression ranges from the abstract to an expressive realism. Richard also teaches watercolor workshops at various locations.
Dutton’s paintings can be found in many Midwest art collections. Paintings by Richard can be found in banks, businesses, and private collections.While the Raymer Society makes every effort to offer authentic, original artwork it is ultimately the bidders responsible for assessing and determining the work of art’s authenticity, condition and quality before purchasing.
