This original etching by Abbo Ostrowsky is of a view of a Pennsylvania farm, c.1936 and measures 9.75" x 14.5" and is pencil signed in the lower right and is in good condition. Abbo Ostrowsky (b. 1889, d. 1975) was a Russian-American art teacher, and etcher. Ostrowsky studied at the Odessa Art School, with Kyriak Kostandi. In 1906, he was assistant director of People’s Art Traveling Exhibitions, in Ukraine. He immigrated to the United States in 1908 and studied at the National Academy of Design, with George Willoughby Maynard and Charles Yardley Turner. In 1914, he began teaching art classes, at The Educational Alliance Art School, downtown Manhattan, NY. He retired in 1955. His work appeared in Harper’s Magazine and is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum and Smithsonian American Art Museum.
