This winter landscape with bare trees is a watercolor by Charles Sanderson, signed "Sanderson" in the lower right, in good condition and measuring 9.75×14.25. Total dimensions are 16.5x21x1.75. Charles Sanderson was known for his painting of abstract-realist Kansas landscapes. He born in Hamilton, Kansas in 1925 and died in 1993. He studied architecture at Kansas State University, and then transferred to Emporia State University where he received a BA Degree in art education. At Fort Hays State University in western Kansas, he earned an MA Degree in Fine Arts. Sanderson taught art in Kansas public schools, including 26 years at Wichita South High School. He also taught at Kansas State, Wichita State, and Friends University, as well as the Wichita Center for the Arts and the Wichita Art Museum. A founder and five times president of the prestigious Kansas Watercolor Society, his work was included in exhibitions throughout the Midwest, and he was featured in Who’s Who in American Art, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in Wichita, among many other publications.
