Burris, Lynn (1930-2018) stoneware, grey jar, signed Lynn Burris on bottom, good condition, no chips or cracks, jar size: 9.75 x 5.25 x 5 inches. Lynn E (Bud) Burris Jr., 87, of Topeka was born in in Wellington, KS. Bud had over 37 years of experience creating and selling pottery. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1948 and Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Landscape Design in 1952. Bud came to Topeka in 1953 as the City of Topeka Park Planner until 1957 when he became the Kansas State Park Director from 1957 to 1988. Beginning his time as Director there were no State Parks. He established 27 State Parks in Kansas. He also served as Professor of Park Administration and Park Planning at Washburn University. He was a licensed Kansas State Landscaping Architect, the National Association State Outdoor Recreation Liaison Officer, a member of the Lewis and Clark National Heritage Trail Foundation, belonging to the TAG, TAA, 20-30 Club, and Wellington Rotary and named Honorary Sheriff of Dodge City, KS.
